At ACT 2 CAM, we know that traditional classroom environments don’t suit every young person. Our Alternative Learning Provision (ALP) provides flexible, mentor-led creative sessions designed to support well-being, inspire learning, and foster personal growth.

Whether a student needs a therapeutic creative outlet to rebuild their confidence, a flexible route to an accredited qualification, or targeted academic support, we adapt our provision to meet them exactly where they are.

Our Offer

• Who We Support: Young people aged 6–18 (and up to 25 for those with an EHCP).
• Flexible Timetables: From 1 to 6 hours per week. We highly recommend a phased approach (e.g., starting at 1 hour a week) to build trust and reduce anxiety before scaling up.
• Interest-Led Creative Hooks: We discover the unique interests of each young person to act as a catalyst for learning. Our team applies specialist expertise across art, film, drama, content creation, and entrepreneurial small business models to tailor the provision directly to their passions.

Tailored Learning Programmes

Delivered by qualified teachers and expert mentors, our sessions can follow different pathways depending on the learner’s goals and stamina:

1. Project-Based Learning (Therapeutic & Non-Accredited)

Focuses entirely on the joy of creation, sensory exploration, and emotional regulation. This is an ideal low-pressure pathway for students experiencing high anxiety or school avoidance.

2. The Arts Award (Flexible Accreditation)

A fantastic, portfolio-based qualification spanning Discover through to Gold (Gold level is equivalent to an A-Level and carries 16 UCAS points). There are no stressful exams, making it an excellent alternative route to academic success.

3. Academic GCSE Tuition

Curriculum-aligned, targeted support for students preparing for or currently undertaking formal creative GCSEs, focusing on portfolio development and meeting assessment objectives.

• Students: Shape their own learning in a low-demand environment where their voice is genuinely heard.
• Parents & Carers: Stay informed and supported, ensuring a cohesive and reassuring bridge between home and our provision.
• Schools & SEND Officers: We provide detailed monthly and end-of-term reports tracking engagement, attendance, and progress against specific EHCP outcomes or personal development targets.

• Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH): Rebuilds self-esteem and emotional resilience through positive, successful creative experiences.
• Communication & Interaction: Uses collaborative and expressive arts to naturally develop language, confidence, and social interaction at the student’s own pace.
• Cognition & Learning: Strengthens skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and independence through project planning and reflection.

We understand that safety and trust are paramount when commissioning alternative provision. ACT 2 CAM operates with the highest standards of educational governance:

• Safer Recruitment: Our hiring processes adhere to statutory Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, ensuring all staff are thoroughly vetted before working with young people.
• Enhanced DBS Compliance: All members of our team hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, allowing for continuous, real-time status checks.
• Robust Safeguarding: Our staff receive regular safeguarding training, maintaining a proactive culture of vigilance, clear reporting pathways, and close communication with all key personnel.
