Inspiring Young People in North Tyneside

Welcome to our local hub for out of school drama, filmmaking and creative arts classes in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.

We’ve been sparking confidence, creativity, and community for young people aged 4-25 through fun, inclusive, and empowering drama programs since 2011.

Discover our totally unique system, developed over 20 years of teaching, designed to boost kids’ confidence and social skills. Young people are at the heart of the decision-making process, empowered with creative skills to explore their imaginations and unleash their creativity.

Our Story

For over 14 years, we’ve helped kids and teens in the North East create and star in their own films – over 1000 and counting! Based at the Big Local in Whitley Bay, our mission is to nurture young talent in a supportive, student-led environment. We’re passionate about helping every child shine through drama, filmmaking, and storytelling.

What We Offer

Out of School Classes: Fun, creative sessions for kids and teens to build skills and confidence.

Holiday Workshops: Engaging programs during school breaks, perfect for exploring new interests.

School Workshops & Teacher Training: Bringing drama to classrooms across North Tyneside to inspire students and educators.

Film Projects: Student-led filmmaking where kids control the stories, themes, and characters. Our groups are split by age and location, We are person centred, ensuring every child feels included and empowered to lead their own projects.

He found it inspirational and said if anyone who wants to be involved with acting and filming it will give them a push to do it. The staff work really hard to support and mentor the young people who attend, we would highly recommend ACT 2 CAM.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My daughter attended the Act2Cam Summer Camp and had a great time. She didn't know anyone to start, but soon made friends. The atmosphere over the week was really friendly and supportive. She loved the games and everyone in the group was given a role in the film making process that they wanted to do. My daughter chose to do a bit of everything.  She also got extra 1:1 support for her Arts Award. The leaders were great and nothing was too much trouble.  If the kids wanted to do something, they felt they could just ask and got to try it out. Everything was child-led. She loved filming with specialist equipment and having the chance to put makeup on other people. She definitely wants to go back! Amazing class!

My 6 year old absolutely loves going every week and has had an absolute blast in the summer camp this week too. The teachers are all super friendly and it seems very relaxed at this age which is perfect!

All of the parents were invited in this afternoon to watch the films that were made. There was such a happy, creative and fun vibe from everyone. All of the staff were enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated. I totally recommend ACT2 for everyone what ever their age or ability.

My child has been coming for approximately six months and it is the most welcoming, nurturing and empowering place. We have experience of the filmmaking class (for juniors) but have also heard amazing things about the drama and screen acting classes. It's been such a good experience for my eldest, that my other child is now gearing up to join after the summer holidays. The staff are unfailingly positive and encouraging, and the kids are trusted with really impressive equipment. As a parent, the aspect I have been most impressed with is how (even with the younger kids), they are treated with respect and never patronised. Would wholeheartedly recommend to any parents of creative kids!

Having an interest in camera work and filming making is such a specific hobbie and not always easy to find for a child of 11- finding Act2Cam has been the best thing, my daughter is excited to attend each week and leaves with such a buzz. He does filmmaking and Drama class and really loves both. he has grown in confidence and is still growing at every class. He's currently doing the summer camp film and loved been director/ sound person. he's excited to be part of a team and looking forward to his acting part. he's only young and sometimes get nervous doing stuff infront of a crowd  The staff are amazing  they listen to him and make him feel more confident , no pressure is put on him if he dosent do it. he will get there in his own time I'm sure , can't wait to see the film once its complete  😍. great company 👌

Act2Cam has been welcoming and consistently inclusive — the team has supported him, with patience and understanding. Over time we have seen his confidence grow and can tell he looks forward to sessions. His teachers at his middle school praised him on his ability to stand up and talk. He often tells us he loves drama and likes to act. He is looking forward to being part of a school production in this first year of high school.
